FMDS Values and Beliefs

FMDS's unique franchise concept goes beyond the typical 'pay to use' franchise concept. We seek like-minded individuals (preferably with design-related qualifications and background), with a strong passion in design and a keen interest in education.
Being education providers, the founders of FMDS takes the responsibility by providing the three "lines" which covers the areas of our concern and interest. These three lines are namely, the top-line, bottom-line and social-line.
The top-line refers to the recognition of our business growth, which is tied closely to generating a healthy bottom-line. This should be a continuous process, so that our students will be able to benefit greatly from the funding of new education initiatives for their learning success

FMDS is a student-centric school hence the social-line spans a wide range of responsibilities, from the well-being of the students to the well-being of the design community at large.
As an educator, we need to discharge our duties dutifully and conscientiously to the parents who have entrusted us with the responsibility of equipping their children with the necessary skills, preparing them for employment opportunities in the design industry. For the betterment of the design industry, we need to impart to them the right design ethics and business principles, with the aim of shaping their mental fortitudes and attitudes, gearing them up for their future challenges.

Types of FMDS Partnership Framework

For Whom

Likeminded Individual/Organisation who/which has inherent interest in delivering design education services.

Joint Venture

Joint venture takes the form of a business partnership with the interested party. An official business entity will be set up within the country of operation. FMDS will provide the core design curriculum, lesson plans and operating system, extending its intellectual property rights to this designated joint-venture company. Partnership pact will be crafted and agreed – varying from territory to territory.

Licensee

Licensing largely caters to existing education providers who wish to expand their training programmes to include design and design management programmes. FMDS provides selected design programmes to interested party as license appointee. FMDS intellectual property rights will be extended to FMDS licensee with limitations to the promotion and delivery of selected programmes, within the agreed territories, for a limited tenure at a negotiated fee and royalty.

All licensee must abide by FMDS teaching guidelines and delivering standards. Licensee is expected to provide school development updates bi-annually and to host centre validation visit by FMDS senior staffs annually to ensure teaching compliance.

Franchisee

Franchising is designed for prospective business partners who wish to enter the education business. FMDS grants full franchising rights to appointed operator to deliver its core curriculum and adopt its business model, modus operandi, teaching techniques & methodologies including its brand trademarks, visual system, operating system, advertising, teaching deliverables and staff training. Business mentorship and marketing support activities are part of these knowledge transfer for an agreed tenure and franchising fee.

All franchisees must mirror and abide by FMDS brand guidelines, infrastructure & facilities, teaching guidelines and deliverables. Franchisee is expected to provide school development updates on a monthly basis and to host centre validation visit by FMDS senior staffs on an annual basis to ensure full operational compliance.

Affiliation

FMDS offers overseas design and creative-related schools a platform for joint development of training programmes, through affiliating, and/or the offer of twinning programmes.

FMDS Intellectual Property Rights and Compliances

First Media Design School (FMDS) Intellectual property (IP) covers a number of distinct categories of legal monopolies in the development and ownership of FMDS brand name, visual system, slogan, operating system, design curriculum, teaching techniques & methodologies, grading and assessment methodologies that are specially developed and initiated by First Media Design School Pte Ltd. Intellectual property rights are only extended to selected partners under the FMDS Partnership Engagement Framework to produce, promote and deliver within the agreed deliverables and conditions.

Under the FMDS Partnership Engagement Framework, all signatories to this agreement are granted certain exclusive rights to these varieties of intangible assets for an agreed fee, tenure and territorial rights as spelt out in the agreement.

FMDS reserves the rights to impose new compliance demands or terminate these rights as it deems fit. Infringement of FMDS intellectual property rights will be seriously dealt with subject to the court of laws covered under the Republic of Singapore IP Compliance Laws.
