Before applying for admission into any of the FMDS design programmes, it is strongly recommended that a meeting with FMDS education consultant is set up. The meeting will enable you to post all your queries pertaining to the various programmes to the consultant. As part of your consideration prior to joining FMDS, a visit to the design studios, to better understand the work process in the design industry, can be arranged.

  • You will be subjected to a short visual test followed with an interview session with FMDS academic head prior to official acceptance into the selected programme. This is applicable even if you meet the entry criteria and is keen to join one of FMDS' programmes.
  • If you have previous working experience in art, design or related industries, you may be eligible for exemption of selected units.
  • For the interview session, you are expected to bring along your past design work, personal sketchbooks or artwork to support your application for entry into the programme.

  • All academic certifications (original certificates)
  • Identification card or passport
  • Design or art portfolio (if available)
  • Transcripts (if available)
  • Dependent pass/Employment pass (for non Singaporean)
  • Application fee (please check with FMDS on the exact fee to be paid)
  • 2 recent Passport-size photographs
  • Bankbook (for ESCROW Account)

  • All applicants will be notified of their application status through phone or email. If you should be successful in your application, an official acceptance letter will be issued to you within 14 days.
  • If you should be successful in your application, you will have to sign a formal Student Contract with FMDS and to pay the first term school fee on the same day of signing the contract. Refer to here for the standard student contract adopted by FMDS as stipulated by the Council for Private Education (CPE).

Why is this important?

  • The student contract is a critical document that governs the relationship between FMDS and the student.  Prospective students should therefore understand and agree to the terms and conditions stated in the student contract before signing it.
  • The process of executing student contracts is important as it allows for questions by prospective students to be answered by FMDS before the student is enrolled. A student contract that is explained clearly and understood by the student will minimise potential disputes between FMDS and the student.

What are the specific requirements?

  • Under the PE Regulation Section 25(6), every registered PEI must execute a student contract for any course that is more than two months in duration.
  • Under EduTrust criteria 4.2, PEIs must execute a student contract for every course unless the course is less than 30 days or 50 hours in duration and waiver has been granted by the CPE.
